    Time Killers

The hands of Chronos slow when I need them fast,
But fast when I need them slow.
    Can't he get it right?

    I battle him everyday
    Til I get paid
    But he never fades
So I ready my white flag.

The hourglass is on my back
I am looking for a purpose
    My hopes fade and flicker
Each time I see the light.

I jump up Chronos' round belly
    And rip off his limbs
    I want him to cringe
    But it's useless.

Back to normal, Chronos knocks me off the face of time
    Nowhere to go but forward
    Will this fight ever end?

I find myself at the feet
    Of the mighty Chronos fleet

So I reach for the surrender
    But instead, the fender.

    They cannot stand the rampage
A storm of progression is coming
    I pick his armies apart
The hands of Chronos go bye

    They become distorted for now
    And do not matter
I rise from the mud, nearly defeated.

Chronos still resides in the clock tower
    Always ready for challengers

    He can never go
For if time fails, who knows.

I sympathize with you, C, but you gotta realize, Father Time can’t stop and listen to everybody’s problems; he’s got a schedule to keep ha ha! Good work, man!

Time is a really weird thing... it's hard to understand... Does it even exist? If so, can it be altered? Will the alterations of time distort reality as we know it? Anyways, I loved the poem! It was interesting, and I loved the pace, leading up to the end... ~For if time fails, who knows.~ (That was a fun line!)

sure i like your ideas. we have some perception of time, some progression of events, as i like to call it. and yes, if our perception of time is different, reality, in some senses, is different too. this poem is kind of about altering time, in killing time, like doing fun stuff. time goes by faster, and when your bored, the opposite seems to happen. Im talking about one being able to occupy their time wisely with something worthwhile. its different from person to person. thanks for the comment :)

oh yes, and a fun side note, the part when i grab the fender, its literally about my guitar, which is a fender. i pick his armies apart with my pick, and the music is distorted, along with my perception of time. ya :)

Time is a battle that we all face in our lives. For some the time runs out for children, love, marriage etc. You should listen to "Manic Monday" It's a song by the bangles. They relate. Time pushes us on, but also causes us stress. It can be fun to go fast, but only for a while. Try to remember time is constant, never changing, always ticking, It's our perspective of time that is always changing and pressuring our lives. Just remember, the wind has no time, but there is a time and place for everything? Right? Good write, so write on....

yes, our conception of time is so arbitrary. we made this increment we live by. but yes, a progression of events (or time, whatever) is always constant, and I would argue it does change. at least our conception of it can change, based on gravity of planet, and even our mind state. what say you to that? this poem is literally about finding shit to do, to kill time. i get a little goofy and obscure with it, is all. thanks for the thoughtful comments :)

It's true! I Chronos died, we wouldn't be able to count. If we couldn't count, there would be no way to track who's ahead & who's behind, or how much you owe to the makers of money (Currently the Federal Reserve). Hence, we would be FREE & perpetually in the land of Dionysus...Chaos, or profound & permanent ecstasy! Nothin' too shabby about that!

IM NOT TOO SURE ABOUT GREEK MYTHOLOGY BUT IF IM NOT MISTAKEN CHRONOS WAS A MIGHT GUY, BUT WHAT IF HIS TIME KNOCK HIM HOW WE LIVE TODAY... WOULD U BE THE ADVERT METAPHOR

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
