    Poem Commentary

I wrote this poem for my daughter who wanted to study abroad and got cold feet at the last moment.

    TIME TO SOAR

    TIME TO SOAR

Yes, I'm telling you it's time to leave the safety of your nest

and friends who choose to stay behind closed doors.

They know they're going to lose, so they will not take the test

Because they can predict their final scores

You've crossed the bay with ease, but the ocean lies ahead

And turbulent waters come with every tide

You'll have to swim or fly and face the unknown things you dread

Or worse, stay on these shores where you can hide

True you cannot swim an ocean, and you have no wings to fly

You've never had to test yourself before

And if you fail, at least you gave it your best try

Don't try to swim or fly, it's time to soar

Good advice to any teenager. I have two sons 20yrs and 17 yrs and my little princess is 14 yrs old. They all think they know everything and tend to rush into things and want to follow the crowd but as mother I cannot allow that to happen. I thank you in behalf of all moms with teens about to fly off the nest... Inspirational

B - E - A - utiful!!!!!!! A lovely writing of determination and perseverance. And the base of it all? Got Faith??? (smile) I got mine and I know you got yours. Sorry that I don't get to view your works as often as l'd like to; but, when I have time (using in a public computer lab) I will stop through. Stay in love, until the whole world hears...........

How very inspirational ... A very nice way to say to the baby bird - it's time to leave the nest - soar to the highest tree - do not look back for you might regret - never having taken the chance. Very Nice Write! ... Ken

“face the unknown things you dread” Just like the poem “Jonathan Livingston Seagull,” this poem gives us an example of simplicity and a timeless lesson. It is a beautiful written poem that allows me to be reminisces of the good old days when people had self-perfection and self-sacrifice which ignited hidden genius within each of us.
