    Tired and Weak

    Been ever so sick
    Another needle prick
    Another bruised arm
    Always cold never warm
    Going here
    And there
    Getting no answer at all
    Always waiting on the call
    But it never comes through
No news is good news though
    Appointment after appointment
    Disappointment after disappointment
Wish they'd say you have this, take this
    Instead of making a wish
    Always so tired and weak
Feeling I haven't slept in over a week
    Energy is draining
    Blood from my vein staining
    How many more test
So much for doctor knows best
    Beginning to fear
    To shed a tear
    Going through it alone
    Wishing the doctor would phone
Give me answers to the pain
Instead of stealing from my vein
    And getting no results back
    My body under attack
    Bringing me to unfamiliar territory
    Questions about family history
Hard to answer when I only know half it
Can hardly take it another minute
How I miss feeling good and well
My bruise on my arm begins to swell
Feeling like the little engine that couldn't
Take it easy, rough play with the kids I shouldn't
    They don't understand
Trying to as best they can
Hopefully mommy will once again be okay
Waiting for what the test n dr does say
Tired of waiting and going crazy
Tired of being sick and feeling lazy
    No matter what I do
Another test gets order back on the go
I wish a stop to all the madness
    And sadness
I wish for answers of why
Instead of my life slipping by
    And not getting any better
    Just my eyes getting wetter
This wasn't suppose to be the way
So now all I can do is pray

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
