To Celebrations – Ray Martin

To Celebrations –
Ray Martin

Thou callest me, my heart, for me to follow
Echoes of the past, down corridors hollow.
Whisper thee of gloom fair left behind
‘Ere honed thy words upon my dullard mind.
As homeward bound my weary footsteps tread,
Anticipation’s goal has thus far fled
From disappointment’s door, yesterday’s ghost,
To align with me this glorious new host.
Entrench within my soul thy respite dream,
Show me the silver of thy moonlight beam,
Of brighter eves and daybreak’s colored dawn
Upon which lavish beauty I thee fawn.
Mine empty spirit, clean before thee, bare,
My future at thy feet, my life to fare;
And find me whole upon morn’s newborn day.
Lead me, if thou will, where shimmering lay
Thy gentle seas caressing endless shore.
Fulfilled be thou in life forever more.

Appealing

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
