    TO LOVE YOU

When the evening shadows fall,... telling me that day is through,
It cannot be a perfect day,... 'till my thoughts return to you.

In the darkness and the silence, there appears a glowing light...
It's the love I have within my heart, that burns for you so bright.

It comforts me when I'm alone, this love beyond compare....to know that you are here with me, this gift... this love to share.

Yet there is sadness here within me, in this dark and lonely time.... for even though I  love you ....
    .......you really are not mine.

Yet I thank you for each prcious hour, that we have shared and known,.....and I would give my heart my soul ... if you would be my own.

But if this wish can never be....and alone I  wander by....
Lete these words remain with you...I'll love you till I die!

Don Quixote rides again. But never steal from an old man his dreams, for that may be the death of him.

Thank you for your comment. I am grateful to Poetry.com for the opportunity to share these writings with fellow Poets . It is a privelage to have you as a friend.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
