    To My Tiger

A wondrous year from whence we met.
    Amazingly, we are there yet.
    Meeting in our secret place.
    Hiding out in cyberspace.
A special friend came to my world,
These folds within to be unfurled.
And all inside began to spin,
Stirring all that was quiet within.
    Inspiring, until my spirit arose
    Feelings only this lady knows.
    You have exalted my existence,
    Leaving me without resistance.
    Tiger, my glorious friend
    With whom kinship shall transcend,
    A year unable to explain
    Forever in my heart remains.
The man you are amazes me
And every day you make me see
All that life has to hold.
Ah! my friend, you are gold.
From deep within my heart I pray
Where you will remain forever and a day.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
