TO THE HAPPY PEOPLE

TO THE HAPPY PEOPLE

Would you be happy
if I closed my eyes
and pretended to not be me

would you be happy
if I spent my life
hiding my disfigurement and disease

would you be happy
if I was just like you
living without a clue

would you be happy
if I spent each day laughing
when a child some where bleeds
and needs to be held

will you be happy today
well I don't think it'll be okay
there will be no reprieve
or escape from your shame
when you hear them speak my name

you can turn from me
and ignore my approach
but you have no where to go
someday you will be forced
to travel the course
of course you can always
close your own eyes

denying my pain
until the day you die
but for you I will
no longer cry
in need of you
I will no longer ride

very deep and meaningful poem. too many people rely on images rather than what a person has to offer. We sometimes forget the ones that are suffering and concern ourselves with what we need and feel and want.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
