To the Porcelain God

Poem Commentary

It is a conflict of long order. The female wants the back up [for her convenience] while the male wants the seat up [for his]. Both are only thinking of themselves. THIS construct is the only fair solution. Why cater to either? And always keep the room looking neat - Yes? [Feel free to put this sign up in your residence - where it will do the most good.]

To the Porcelain God

          Whoever Stands Before this Throne
          Or sits in regal splendor...
Will Replace both Back and Seat
          Whether Family, Friend, or Vendor

I wrote this a few years ago - it is in the 'spare' BR where workers 'go.' Everyone has enjoyed the framed document. Thanks S/S.

These thoughts were to resolve that old problem of the sexes. I have it framed in a room in which it belongs. Thanks for the view,C.

I laughed really hard when I realized what this meant. That is priceless.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
