too young to die (in memory of cuzin jay)

He was going way too fast
down a road he claimed to kno
he wasn't buckled up
he flew out the windshield
landed on his head
bounced on the concrete
still not dead
but a truck came and ran over him
brain coming out his ears
when we got the call
we all burst into tears
we loved him dearly
all of us
but he did to himself
he was too young to die
i wrote a poem for him
put it in his casket
kissed his cold head
see you in heaven
with tears in my eyes i walked away
i still remember it vividly
till this day
the day jay died
was the day i gave my soul away

First, my condolences. Such a loss is great to bear. I like the way your poem flows, though... Lots of emotions behind this one. I'll give it a nine.

For one of such a young age, I am quite impressed with the depth of emotion behind your choice or words and the lyrical flow of the aftereffects of the death of a loved one. Well done!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
