Tortilla Soup for the Mexican's Soul

    Tortilla soup...
well it's a combo of things
chicken, tomatoes, and garlic and such
Don't think about the human condition so much
but more the soul that lives within
    made out of love
    the soup is hot
    don't despair Mexican or not
this soup will hit the spot

Philosophies are shared at the table
    Expressions of the soul
    and no campbell's label
A heart's desire will be uncovered
The soul within can be discovered

    made from scratch
    you cannot compare
    this soup of culture
    any likeness is rare

    A Mexican's soul is beautiful
    especially through breaking bread
it's why it is so special
The soul that's there can be read

Tortilla soup, is a warming sensation.
It brings out the heart's vibration.
    calming you'll feel
    it's a great hearty meal
    Slow is the process,
    but you'll appreciate the patience.

Upon tasting... bring it to your lips
    You'll find it doesn't matter...
you find color only in the spoon you dip
As you bow your head to take a sip

Welcomed despite only a humble abode
You'll see you too have a Mexican's soul.

Here it is almost midnight, and you have made me hungry! What a lovely poem. It conjures up all the rich feelings of a proud heritage. Good job

Paint! You have painted the picture of Food is Love must confess prevelant desire for latin cooking and on my Italian side the breaking of bread and total sharing is why cooking with love is love for the family in partaking! well done!

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.
