     I checked through my email
    one-hundred and seventy-four messages
    nothing from you
    only the spammers love me
    cest la vie

    Amused to find that a straight counterpart
    gets my written words
    try not to read too much into this
    she glimpsed a fraction of a troubled soul
    missed the other 99 %

    Autumn leaves torn from the trees
    cascading to the ground
    in lazy, spiralling patterns
    defecating dogs litter the biking paths
    spent prophylactics discarded,
    died a happy death

    Hands in the pockets
    scarf wrapped around a neck,
    so casually
    not another casualty
    of what society
    decreed them to be

    Known, yet so alone
    must be the ' f- off'  attitude
    a silent statement projected so bold
    an anguished cry, mute on the inside
    never date a tortured soul,
    along only for the ride

    Great read Great write - A very visually expressive poem with just enough torment to pull it off. Tortured is a great title for this one as well. Keep up the good work. Also - I don't agree with Net's comment below, I don't believe it is appropriate to express them here. Straight, Gay or indifferent. I believe Personal comments should be made by sending a Private Message.

    thanks for your comment! I left nettieforce 1's comment there,because she didn't grasp what I was writing about.It wasn't any sort of 'attack' on any persuation...I value different perspectives,even though i may not agree with what was written...

    i really wanted to like this, but i was put off by the f-off attitude i guess which i can't help but think is directed at me: a straight woman daring to "comment" on your poetry. the other 99% is what? please let all of us straight women know ahead of time so we don't make fools of ourselves, ok?

    Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
