Poem Commentary

This poem is about death and immortality 2 sides of the same coin

Traveling

I have traveled through this laberynth of misery known as life,
It has shown me nothing but pain and despair.

My first experiance with death came at the ripe old age of 15
I discovered the life less shell of my father.

He lay naked on his bed with a ribbon of pink vomit streaming
Streaming down his chest, then I knew he was at rest.

This life is all for naught if there is no immortality,
My critics may disagree to this thought alas  they know life.

They do not understand how the grim spectre of death yeilds,
Its power over mere mortals they think that life goes on.

They are wrong,  so very wrong.

Life doesn't go on but, if we have faith in God we know that when we die we go to a much better place. Our spirit and the wonderful memories others have shared with us will live on. A good write though I don't share your viewpoint on this.

Tricky topic, it takes a skilled writer to navigate these waters. I like he straight forwardness here, no symbolism for symbolisms sake. Good write.

I feel our sadness, yet death isn't all there is for me. I hope you gain relief from your pain.

What a perfectly sad poem Troub.. I shant agree, nor disagree, but partake the words you share with me.. and feel the emotions you emit.. Hugs.. SG

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
