    Trying To Hold On


    My world came spiraling down
    and the tears streamed down
    but you told me you'd be there

    so I fought to hold on

    The ground split open
    and my heart shattered in two
    but you told me you'd be there

    so I fought to hold on

    I tried to hold on
    hands bloody and shaking

    I tried to hold on
    legs weary from waiting

    I tried to hold on
    but the ledge gave way

    I screamed in your absence
    I screamed in your silence
    I screamed into the darkness
    I screamed into the descent

    I fell into the emptiness

    frightened

    forgotten

    I prayed when I finally hit bottom
    and my heart irrevocably shattered
    that you would be there to catch me
    and the pieces of my heart.

    I rated this poem a week ago, but apparently this site is so poor, my comment and rating never registered. I found the poem gripping! A keep me on the edge of my seat WINNER!! You still amaze me with your writing! Loved every word.
