Under Attack
When do these tears quit drowning my anger,
in a field with limited vision I can't escape the danger.
The stranger that keeps shooting at me in the night, the fight that will never seem to diminish, and the president can only tell me I must stay until it's finished.
It's hard work he says while in peace he lays his head, "We have won the war" but we're still hauling off the dead. And I'm fed up with the excuses, the good use for which we're abused, confused to a tee. How can it be that we've done this more than once, it's just a hunch but I bet we'll be back. I'll just continue to run with this pride until the next attack.
