Under Dermis
Beauty is worn proud by youthful,
As Wisdom by age is treasured,
A virtuous heart speaks truthful,
Purity in soul flows, pleasured.
Deceit lies secret in plain view.
Discretion’s unpopular skill,
Sees con to innocence rehearsed through,
As prey agrees to be killed.
Smile’s perfection; a stage play,
On skin is beauty, refined.
The birth of vision, dies away,
Leave dregs ‘pon memory dines.
Beneath faux mask, untended,
Begs wild hope, buried, oppressed.
Lost are days, sweet kisses mended,
What death waters, sowing distress.
Grotesque face hides love’s lair, there,
Between the tears from disgrace:
Broken dreams stream sadness, paired.
None belong to one out of place.
...Love’s withheld from an unlovely face.
