    Unknown

    I wish just one knew

One was close enough to confide in

    To Love

I’ve done more than most will ever do

    In their entire lives

Yet I feel like a failure

    I failed to find Love

    Marriage

I failed to carry on my name

    Have kids

    But I’ve traveled the world

    Visited the Holy Land

    Fought wild land fires

    Fought in combat

    Saved Lives

    Took Lives

    Got a Medal

    Jumped from planes

    Ridden Bulls

    Held my 8 Seconds

Ridden my Horse into the Sunset

    Hiked into the unknown

    Gave my Heart to JESUS

Have a Heart full of Love

    Yet I feel unknown

Unloved by the world around me

    I mean to say women

They know not who I am

    They only see the Dancer

    The Romantic

    The Marine

    A Fire Fighter or Cowboy

Anything but who I really am

    What will it take

    To be known

    I’ve hung up my sword

I’ve put away my dancing boots

What more will it take, to be known

    Loved

    -Fin-

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
