Alone

Alone

I am an island onto myself,

Quietly I sit in a sea of humanity

Moving all about me in rapid obliviousness

There is a quiet peace to it all;

As the boiling sea of motion churns around me,

Hoping to see another like myself

An island born in contemplative silence

To stay the immovable object in a world of hustle.

A constant in an evolving universe.

Yes; the lonely life that is mine still,

Proves to be the twisted comfort in an uncomfortable state.

Yes; madness, now it seems, to be with each passing thought.

My only friend, the tide comes and goes with structured fluidity

As it teases me…

I really liked the innuendo of being removed almost from the hustle and bustle of life. Although I must debate as to whether it does not show a higher level of evolution, rather than a surefire way to insanity. Who is crazier? the one with the peace and solace or those rushing and scurrying about? Just something to ponder while you observe....a born sociologist that's what i say. Write on....................Tlady

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
