Poem Commentary

This poem "Vanity" was written by request of a friend. I scribed it for her family member. She appreciated it very much, and I hope you enjoy it as well.

Violet

Violet
By: Eduardo Acevedo Jr.

Violet, no sweeter name could ever emerge from my lips on such a morning
You have reached a milestone, after miles of stones you’ve kicked
And mountains you have crossed, braved weathers long and felt the prick of life wake you for so long, this is something for which I…Everyone longs for {longing} (everybody longs for)

Your struggle has been long, but well worth it for us to see your beauty
We waited in the womb to meet you as an honor not a duty--
You are truly our example of a shining star and by far on this day a great site to behold

So bold yet bountiful with wonderfulness and I address it more than once
The sun shines brighter when you wake up and
You are so, amazing no other sight could make my eyes flicker with such emotion

I don’t know what gave the Lord the notion to form you into flesh,
But you can bet all the Gold and emeralds, all the platinum and diamonds on the earth that none compare to a single breath from your chest
Because that is genuinely the definition of beautiful

How is it that you were conceived to be as precious as you are?
An extract of pure strength to form compassion as the side effect we adore
And trust being the recipe we implore will keep us believing in each other as we confide in you

Love isn’t a good enough word, to express how much you mean to us
You are all  we wish to be and hold dear in a human being
Engaging, Vivaciously Energetic, Rough, Yearning To Help, Important, Never-endingly Gorgeous
And On this day, as in most, you are EVERYTHING
That!, will always, spell YOU

Lovely! Whom may I ask is this about? Whoever it is, your words are so meaningful and sound so SINCERE that every Violet in the world would be lucky to read this. Even if its not about them.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
