Vulnerable

Vulnerable

She had gotten to a place where she didn’t feel desirable,

yet desired most.

Desired to feel that thing she hated most.

That thing that told her it wasn’t okay for others to get close.

That thing most called vulnerable,

vulnerable to the unthinkable,

unthinkable to the less emotional,

emotional for that person most desirable.

She wanted to feel that thing again she thought was unfeelable.

She wanted to let go,

let go of the past,

make room and allow new feelings to flow.

Now was the time to show,

now was the time to tell;

if vulnerability was what they wanted,

she could be vulnerable as hell.

Hard to take that first step. I've never trusted quickly. People usually have to prove to me they are worth it. They end up thinking Im concieded, but Its done more out of defense than ego. This poem explains one of the things I deal with the most. You worded it well.

I think it's one of those things a lot of people deal with especially after being hurt and/or disappointed.. Thank you!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
