Walk-A-Bout

Walk-A-Bout

There was a time

When I was interesting enough

There was a time

When I had it right

And I had her attention

Giving her smiles here and there

She was inseparable

Life felt good

Things felt right

On top of the world

Then fate put me back in place

I couldn’t get her to smile

Got it all wrong

What happened

I lost the mark

Then her attention

One screw up after the next

Now it’s like pulling teeth to get her time

I guess it’s time to walk alone

Dance alone

No one to write to anymore

Won’t lie

I’m a little sad

Won’t deny it

I miss her deeply

All I’ve got to say to her

Is I’m sorry Love

For letting you down

This poem is so visually pleasing, devoid of punctuation, and centered on the page. The reader feels the confusion, sadness and regret of the narrator. "She was inseparable" is an interesting line. Different from the usual we were inseparable, it lends itself to the idea that SHE was once the persuer on HIS arm.

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
