War and everything after

Poem Commentary

Perspective from a Russian soldier during the struggle of WW2. Rhythm and structure is not solid, but I think it handles itself alright.

War and everything after

The Germans are coming in full force,
with plans of a master race.
All they want is more space,
for an empire impossible to replace.
And the bombs are falling on France,
as the Nazi's and gods of war dance on the street
and celebrate in the ruins of shattered concrete.
Oh the future can't come soon enough.

Of all the dreams and plans I've made,
serving in the army was never in the cards.
When all my dues have been paid,
will there be a home to return too?
Will the world be ready for my dreams?
Will I be ready for the world?

The russians are losing their borders,
and the government is trying to maintain order.
Watch them as they contol the masses attifude.
Replacing the future with a life of solitude.
Tell you what to eat, what to wear,
always promising we are almost there.
Be happy with what you have, utopia awaits,
be loyal and believe in your communist state.

Of all the dreams and plans i've made,
serving in the army was never in the cards.
When all my dues have been paid,
will there be a home to return too?
Will the world be ready for my dreams?
Will I be ready for the world?

A very interesting piece Andy, I really enjoyed it. I was amazed at how a young man could put himself in the mindset of this foreign soldier from about 65 years ago. Seems arraigned like a song with it's repeated refrain. Nice job. Blessings, Whiskers

Great piece of writing............................................................

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
