WAVING GOODBYE TO THE MOON

Waving Goodbye to the Moon

We are the clouds we see,
we are the ground we walk upon...
that leads to nowhere and everyplace.

It has no end
and always just begins --
don’t set your sight
upon the farther shore,

Yes, Don’t set your sight
upon the farther shore,
Place your hand upon the next rock
and pick it up --
Feel its weight.

It may be the next foundation
of your temple --
and of time.

One never knows one’s destination
and dire distress--
Until they open their heart
to the waking dawn,
and see the morning Sun
come forth
from the temporary darkness
of the moon’s light.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
