    Poem Commentary

    Here's to the NFL.

    Way May Hay

    Yippy Yay,
    Hurray,
    Today is the day,
    They're gonna pay,
    Pave the way,
    While we all yell hay,
    While they play,
After that they'll hit the hay,
    Before they,
    Come back to play,
    And while I may,
    Eat a Paczki!

Reminds me of the old "say hey" remark that Willie Mays the great baseball player used to use. But that was before your time.

Ah yes, the Say Hey Kid. Sadly, yes, was before my times. I would have loved to see him play in person. Thanks for the read.

Was line 4 on purpose "They're gonna pay?" or should it be They're gonna play? A very short poem-could be longer huh?

It was intended to be pay, but play work better. The thinking behind it was "They're gonna pay for beating us in the past." As for the length, I kept it short on purpose. Anything longer could have turned it into a ramble.

Gosh I love the beat of the song and sang it out loud. My son was listening and smiling. He then asked me if I knew what a Paczki is and I said: of course something good. Can you enlighten me. lol

Paczkis are a polish pastry and are sort of like cream/jelly filled donuts. They're more flavorful, and have a lot more filling.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
