We Can Make the World Stop

Poem Commentary

Inspired by the song "We Can Make the World Stop" by The Glitch Mob

We Can Make the World Stop

The rhythmic change

Of your steady beat

Brings me a swarm of bodies

Back and forth

And back again

Rain drips off each

Running from cheeks

Frozen-in-time bodies

Corpses

Lost in a dream of

Conscious waves

Reaching for the light

Of past, a time

When all is lost

Hold it there

Eyes creeping

Holding no true gaze

Surrealist dreams collide

Brushing on hot

Soaked flesh

To zombie flesh

And in this instant

We are alive again.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
