    Poem Commentary

     What you can't forget

    We can't Forget

we kissed, we hugged, we made love
we made plans, we had dreams, we had children
    we had everything

    then everything changed
was it me or was it you
no time for me and I had no time for you
love that was there no has no space
    for you or me

you are busy I am busy
    soon we forget who's who
I cook you clean I wash the kids
    you clean the dishes

your wishes are no longer my command
no we pass by each other deadpan
no emotion devotion for each other things seem to have changed

    Do you still love me?
    Do I still love you?
Of course now we just have to make time for our dreams to come true

    Let's walk and talk again
    remember who we were before
    you are beautiful and sublime
I just have to take time

    Our five kids our blessings
but so are you and I treasure the blessing that you are
    Our I do was forever
