    We Keep Our Friends

I thought about my friends today you know it's been thirty years
A lifetime of memories through blood sweat and tears
Know matter how alone I feel I can always count on you
You may get on my ass but you'll tell me the right thing to do
You were here a long ago and I know you'll be here in the end
I may have lost alot of things but I always keep my friends

I remember all the concerts and drinking wine from a skin
The time I broke down late at night you were the first to let me in
All those times in the mountains of the north georgia hills
The moonshine the old man made in his homemade stills
We've told these funny stories time and time again
I'll never tire from hearing them because I always keep my friends

We've been through weddings and funerals
We were there when we needed to be
When I roll my eyes at you, you still laugh at me
Some things never change like when we all sit by the fire
Back then we were mavericks now we're all retired
So let's pop a beer play guitar and tell old stories again
No matter how old I get I'll always keep my friends

Good poem, reminds me of all the friends I've had through the years. The good times and bad times shared will never be forgotten. TS

Nice tribute to dear friends. We always need those people in our lives who don't hold the punches but stand by us through thick and thin. I enjoyed reading this.

True friends are a goldmine Sherrie, I like this one. It says what is felt about friendship and flows well. I always wondered why as you grow older you seem to have fewer friends, true friends anyway, but as a child you seemed to have lots of friends. A true best friend, male or female, are hard to come by so if you have one, cherish him or her.
