    What I Thought You Were

I thought you would be different.

I thought you would be better than the rest.

But I guess I was wrong,

Because of all people you became the worst.

I trusted you and you broke my heart.

You laughed in my face and crushed me.

I felt so hurt and betrayed,

    But you didn't care.

    You never cared about me.

All you cared about was yourself.

How I felt never really mattered.

    I was scared and lonely,

And all I wanted was to be loved.

    But you crushed me,

And you made me feel like nothing.

I thought you would be different.

I thought you would be better than the rest,

But I guess I was wrong.

Because of all people you became the worst.

what i see here is you are upset at him, for crushing your feelings, your being...but i am also feeling you are more mad at yourself for allwoing him back into your heart. being sensitive to this, and experiencing things in my own life, i too have set home crying my eyes out because of the pain which was felt so deep. please find the happiness you deserve. and Please dont stop writing. this is what i will only ask of you

I know alot of people, especially women, would appreciate this. Most women feel like victims when it comes to bad relationships. I know I can relate to this one. Nice job.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
