    What Is A Poem

    Thoughts, feelings, inspirations
    Dreams, nostalgia, expectations
    Fear, sadness, pain and glory
Words written down that tell a story

Many are simple, just verses and rhyme
Words from the heart, words from the mind
Others provoke us to think and to dream
To ponder the words, to picture the scene

Some are obscure and hard to pin down
Some cause us to smile. some cause us to frown
Some make us laugh, and some make us cry
Still others make us wonder why

A poem can do many wonderful things
Like the words of a song that your mind can sing
How simple a thing this has been for me
    Writing a poem about poetry

A poem; simply a vegetable soup. You offer such inspiration through this piece. Many, will never know what writing brings upon a soul. Thank you.

Great cadence and wit in this piece... Almost nostalgic in all the various aspects of what a poem is all about and it's intrinsic value to everyone... Great write, I enjoyed this one... Sometime, check out my piece on "What Is A Poet?"...

I really likeds how it flowed flawlessly in my mind as i read it.You are very good. I loved it...Don Folks

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
