What she couldn't say

What she couldn't say

She couldn’t say it out loud

She ran from it

She let it get away

She wasn’t strong enough to fight for it

Countless nights without sleep

When sleep does find him

He still Dreams of her

To proud to tell her he misses her

Where does he go from there

He cares more than he wants to admit

Doesn’t trust her one bit

That’s what’s holding him back

Cause she can’t say it out loud

She ran from him instead

Let him close her out and move away

Without a goodbye

Did she lie cause she doubted he’d understand her

She knows he really cares

To spite his anger

She sees through it, she know it’s only a mask

To hide his pain

He didn’t want to lose her

Never wanted to let go

She couldn’t stop

She wasn’t thinking

She fell on her own sword

He wasn’t thinking

He let his emotions get the best of him

Didn’t act out of Love

Now they stare across the sky

One in the city letting it dual her Heart

The other in the country letting it strengthen him

Both keep from the other

Trying to move on

It wasn’t meant to end in the way it did

They have unfinished business

Hence from across the nation

Stars link the cry of two Hearts

This story will end

Depending on her

Will she fight for her feelings

Or will she surrender to insecurities

What is Love worth to her

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
