    What Words Just Couldn't Say

It must have been hard all this time
    knowing we were through
while we both decided to come together
our end was set by you

we'd had our troubles we both knew
I thought we had moved past
    my honesty/confession;
the dark cloud in our forecast.

I guess that you tried telling me
    in ways I couldn't see
the final word you had once more
when you walked out on me

    Repercusions from the past
you say it's all my fault
    But I remember one thing
    I never got caught!

Yes I admit I spoke the words
    "maybe we need time apart,"
time for you to miss me
not time for a new start.

A game it seems we're playing
    but it isn't very fun
    who can go the longest
    which one will come undone?

And somehow love has turned to hate
    it happened with such haste
the loss of all we had together
    seems such a bitter waste.

Yet I'm doing well without you
    and your doing just fine
I guess that shows us something
I guess that is my sign.

Your last verse shows wisdom. To be able to see the sign and know it's significance is the first step. Good luck, TS

I'm grateful for your comment. While, I have written poetry all my life, this is one of my few recent ones. Going through a divorce was good for two things 1)helped me lose weight and 2) inspired some beautiful poetry. Thanks for your poems, your comment and the encouragement they both offer!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
