What to be

What to be

If I weren’t me

What would I be?

If I could escape my humanity

What to be… Let me see…

If I could be changed into anything

I could become a roaring lion king

I’d defend the pride with claws and teeth

A flowing mane would be my virile wreath

Maybe I wouldn’t care

Tromping along like a big ol’ bear

I’d eat berries and some grubs

For dessert some pureed bugs.

How about something regal

Perhaps a great big soaring eagle

I would fly in heavenly skies

Gliding on the wind up high

I’d be free of my humanly gifts

My family I would mostly miss

I’d have peers to whom I couldn’t converse

I think I’d be lonely on this earth

If I could be free of my humanity, I could leave you with more than what you see. But the skin can't be shed no matter who's blood been shed for a human is what we're weant to be. lol sorry wOOt I dig the ditty and glad you're still in the hood!

I think you might have something there. Needs a little work, but I like where you are going. Let me know when you have it polished. Thanks for commenting. :)

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.

Plato (BC 427-BC 347) Greek philosopher.
