Poem Commentary

I'm new and didn't get this piece in time for the challenge but wanted to write one anyway as I loved the topic.

When God Knocks On Your Door

When God Knocks On Your Door
                                (Deborah Taylor)

When God knocks on your door
What will you hear him say
Well done my faithful servant
You chose the narrow way

When God knocks on your door

Will you pretend no one’s at home
Will you want to run and hide
Will you hang your head in shame
Or meet his eyes and smile

When God knocks on your door

Will he say you lived the golden rule
And loved beyond yourself
Your light a beacon shining bright
Not hidden on a shelf

When God knocks on your door

Will you invite him in to live
Clean every portion of your heart
Or only let him sit and rest
And see the few purged parts

When God knocks on your door

Will your oil lamp be ready
When the groom comes for his bride
Will your life be free of blemish
When he draws you to his side

When God knocks on your door

Will you accept the love he offers
Love beyond compare
Mercy, Grace, Forgiveness
Peace so pure so rare

When God knocks on your door

When God knocks on your door
What will you hear him say
Well done my faithful servant
Is what I hope and pray

When God knocks on your door

Sing...it was great chatting with you last night. I'll read your poetry later this evening as I have a full day. I still have not figured out how to email someone directly but I do want to talk music with you.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
