When I was a Younger More Inocent Me

When I was a Younger More Inocent Me

When I was young

There was a time

When I thought

Poems had to rhyme;

That Mama and Daddy

Would forever be --

When I was a younger

More

Innocent me.

But life went on --

And as I grew,

Back in my mind

I always knew,

That Mama and Daddy

Would die in time;

And all my poems

Wouldn’t always rhyme.

That one day

God would call them home

And all their children

Though not alone,

Would feel

A loss so very deep

But understand

They’d gone to sleep --

Only to awaken

In a better land

Where they could

Walk with Jesus

Hand in hand…

With Henry they

would laugh and talk,

As they took his hand

And began to walk

The streets of gold

They so often spoke of….

Enveloped in the

Hands of Love.

When I was young

I often asked

“Why is life such

An awesome task?”

And they would say

“that’s the way it must be.

When I was a younger

More

Innocent me.

This is a beautiful poem! Personally I prefer poems that rhyme. Prose is very hard for me to do. lol. This is the first of your work that I have read. I will read some more...feel free to come on over and read my...Nod To Shakespeare. Take care!

Thank you so very much. I just love Poetry period.... rhyming or not.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
