    When I Was Small

I recall when I was small
I thought someday I'd know it all
Well, I'm older now and I think about it again
And all I've learned is things were better then

The people I looked up to looked after me
They showed me things I couldn't see
I learned the hard way- from the wrong things that I did
Life was easier when I was a kid

Some people have come and some have gone
We've said "Hello", we've said "So long"
For some of them we've laughed, and some of them we've cried
We've held each other when some have died

I always wish i could go back. I don't feel like an adult. I feel like I am still 16 and I wish I still was. I look in the mirror and don't recognized myself anymore. Usual when I think about myself I imagine my 15/16 face and 15/16 year old body.

what an insightful piece... I guess growing up is different for everyone and in some ways we all long for childhood... for myself, I'm glad it's over... I do try to keep a childlike perspective on life and I see you do too... write on! ;)

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.
