When The Alarm Goes Off

When The Alarm Goes Off

When I wake up in the morning my faith is put to the test –
Will I be in a joyful mood or will I growl and need more rest?
Yet if I choose joy….how long can my happiness endure?
For trials are waiting a step away, for this I am real sure.
How can I be an example to my children and to those I love?
Will I always smile and help them, though I want to shove?
Instead of sitting here worrying, wasting my time away….
God, guide each step and breath I take….teach me how to pray.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
