where but the dark...

where but the dark...

where but the dark can you lose your mind
with the loss of your sight in front of your eyes
shift the focus and try to rely
on your feeble emotions for a truthful reply

where but the dark are you completely alone
caught in a nightmare in places unknown
lost in the dark your weakness is shown
the things that you fear you face on your own

where but the dark are you in fear for your life
lost in a spectrum devoid of all light
counting the seconds and believing the lies
telling yourself that its all in your mind

where but the dark can your reap what is sown
and the thoughts that you think can strip you of hope
tear you apart 'till you can no longer cope
and welcome you in to your new sullen home

You begin this poem with stark truth... for I don't recall ever feeling lost in the sunlight... and the verses are so easily and rhythmically sound ... and it's easy to read the intent... for it IS within the mind that all exists... no weakness can hide, lest one relieve the mind of it's own power to think... as with drugs, alcohol or some other poison... then the mind goes elsewhere... as if a passenger... but THIS poem brings Reader to realize the cognizant brain sees every single thought and deed that the 'owner' has experienced... and Good One... "believing the lies... it's all in your mind"... so, so true... it's the past, sitting inside now... and it's not an illusion... unless, of course... one is subjected to mind-altering drugs... depression isn't a fantasy... it's an existence of 'welcome to your new sullen home' that welcomes no change.
