    Whispers In My Mind

    Words ~ not voices
    not even sounds ~
    flowing through my mind.
    Flooding my thoughts. Doubt. Fear. Hopes. Wishes.
    Dreams.
    Not words of encouragement.
    More like.........
    Chastising. Scolding.
    Why should I expect anything different?
    What right do I have?
    FOOL!
    I'd grown accustomed to the yelling ~ rather,
    comfortable.
    But, these whispers
    in my mind
    terrify me.

    Whispers in the mind can be a blessing or a curse. Here's hoping that yours, whether real or simply poetic imagery, fall in the former category. Nicely done poem.

    I know the "whispers"--how deceptive and frightening they can be. They just don't seem to go. It helps to ask yourself, "Am I loved? Am I worthy?" And if you can answer yes to these questions than the whispers might go away...if only a while. I enjoyed your poem. It was sobering for me.
