    Poem Commentary

I gave this poem to my CA professor in class today (not knowing why - but I always follow my heart in situations like that).  Anyway, as I was riding the D train this morning to my 9am class, I saw a couple of homeless people sleeping on the benches on the platforms and stuff.  The weather is getting cold real quick this year and I think it is because of the heat we had last year.  Regardless, I have been homeless in the winter and I cannot help but have my heart go out to those without some place to live.  I pray that one day we can all come together mentally again and live equally like we should have been in the first place, until then... take notice of your fellow man.  If it was you, wouldn't you want someone to remember that you were human too.

Love you guys, and thanks for reading.

    Who Should I Run To?

It still upsets me when I see,
less fortunate people on the streets.
It takes me back, to a time
    where I...
    lived the same way,
    thinking that I would die.
If I did not have someone,
    out there who cared.
    Who knows where I'd be?
In an alley way - scared?
    From traumatic events,
to being left with the scars.
    Just wanted my peace,
did not pursue the jail bars.
    As I look back today
with the eyes of the present,
    what else can I say,
    to  make you listen -
    "Dear Heavens!"
Pay attention to those you surround yourself by,
because when you're crying with woes,
some will just let you cry.

    Be yourself, be strong.

I have not been homeless, but I do ache for these people. I do all that I can as do my children help too. It can never be too much and always I feel it is not enough. But am consoled somewhat with the ones we can help. Hope and pray many many more will stop a moment and reach out and hellp someone. It is so rewarding.

Thanks for commenting and I completely agree. I myself try to teach my kids the power of 'niceness' lol. god bless you and your family.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
