    Who Told You That?

Who told you that life was fair,
Or that you would meet Miss Right,
Thes are just a couple of the things
    I wonder about some nights.

Who said everyone would like you,
Or that they would all be your friend,
All too often we are the last to learn
That's not the way it will end.

Who told you that looks were important,
Or that one's skin color was a big deal,
It had to be someone who's heart
Doesn't feel the way mine feels.

I will leave you with one thing,
From it I hope you never part,
All these things are nothing compared
    To what's in someone's heart.

Very nice poem. I too will add more when I am feeling better

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
