Why can't you?

    Why can't you?

If every one of my friends can accept me for me then why can't you? Why can't you just accept that your daughter is not like everyone else. Sure I might not be the perfect girl. Sure I like to wear boy clothes because they are comfortable. Just because I am a "tomboy" doesn't mean I don't like guys or I can't wear girl clothes either. Sure I don't like to wear them that much, but I wear them when they are needed. If everyone else I know has accepted me for who I am and for what I wear, why can't you? Why don't you spend more time listening to me then trying to change me to be "the perfect girl" or yelling at me for nothing. We all know that being perfect is boring.

To be one's own person is a thing most of us take a lifetime to discover. You know and our comfortable with yourself. Sounds like you just don't march to the beat of a different drum but you make the beat and march to it. I have a daughter that did this and I wouldn't change her for the world, give it a few years and those important people in your life will be all for your beat.

perfect is boring, I can relate to the tomboyish thing too and you're right they are comfortable. I know I will look "cute" in girl clothes, but I like being comfortable, all girls do...I mean we have that side in us, we don't want to be girly all the time. GREAT POEM I found somebody who thinks like me
