Why do I cry
Why is it so easy to cry for someone else, when my own pain runs so deep.
Why does someone else's sorrow, make it so hard for me to sleep.
Why do my eyes fill with tears, when I hear of someone else's pain.
Why do I pray for someone else, when my own prayers seem in vain.
Why feel sorrow for those who have only brought me woe.
No more why but why not, for the Lord's word told me so.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
