    • Been on a hiatus for awhile, but I'm back and have the itch to write some poetry.

    Why Try

    why is life so difficult
    perhaps it has to be
    maybe its the struggles
    that really strengthen me
    if life were really easy
and we didn't have to try
    what would be our motivation
    in ever asking why
    why does this do that
    or why is that happening
    these are the questions
    that lead to better things
    Ben Franklin asked those questions
    and Edison wondered why
but would they still have done those things
if they never had to try

as previously stated, remarkable perspective in a society that embraces self-gratification and and an unjustifiable sense of entitlement....here, without really stating it, your message is of perseverance and taking responsibility for our own path..well done Travis, really.

Powerful message! Why ask why? Why don't you just try? If you already had the answer would you still put forth any effort? This poem makes you think beyond the "whys" in life. Also, has a positive level of encouragement that insists that curiosity is okay, but don't let the answer impair you from trying, achieving, and succeeding.

Great way to end a poem, and besides the questio (which I found profound) the allusions to those giants in history ties the poem to many other thoughts and feelings... almost a poem the lives.

    Wow... thanks a lot

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
