Poem Commentary

There are moments when you can see another lose hope, see it in that moment. See them lose everything, the Will to breathe. The loss of strength for survival, for life. Within a second they die, for without hope, we cannot hold on to life... There some moments without any hope at all, when life fails to continue on...

Within the Breath of a Moment

You wake for the anticipation of a brand new day

Learning of life, to spread your wings and fly away

You can see in your minds eye the view of such beauty

Within the safety of home you dream of Eventuality

You stand at the border, looking out at the great beyond

But one wrong step and then your dreams shall be gone

Lost forever with the blistering heat of pain

Drowned in the tears that shall never once fade

You plea for your loved ones, but they are nowhere to be found

To a stranger, a healer lost in his own eternal doubt

Hellish heat drains all strength, all Will to survive

As you contemplate all you lost, your love, your sky

You beg for mercy but the strangers will never hear

Lost in their own pains and miseries they must bear

I was there, I saw you plea, I saw you longing to live

But I was too doubtful, to scared to give

To give my time, my energy, my hope to you

Had I only known what it was that my hope could do

Could it have saved you? Would it have helped?

Too much time has gone by for me to truly know

A moment passed and you saw a dream of purest love

A moment passed and you were gone

The beauty and possibly the lesson in al this is that we all have a chance every single day to be the one who does give fire, hope, breath, the abilty to carry on and yet, we rarely do it, and wonder why its nowhere to be found wheen its our turn. Beautiful piece!

You fight 'cause you know there is a brighter future, because you know there is happiness. :)

Ouch! Regrets? Recriminations? What if? If only I'd...? These things do prey on the mind, Supes, and you've illustrated it well, here; so well, that I can't see how anybody can't help but feel a twinge while reading it.

Thanks, chaos... Yeah, something like that. Regrets of a life to follow us through our times. C'est la vie.

Damn. So true though. Life can 180 so quick. It makes you wonder what exactly true strength is? Perserverance? Endurance? Maybe there is never a time that we are done with struggling with it. Maybe growth is the only constant assurance...? I like how you challenge the darkest emotions here. Questioning instead of accepting. Journeying right into the wound. Loss is a great challenge indeed. A poem that stirs the thinking mind...

Thank you, Deep, always appreciate your comments. So easy it is for us to lose our hope, but still to carry on. Thanks :D

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
