    Wondering

    And so, she finds herself
         wondering
    About that which she cannot
         control
    And, therefore, cannot
         understand.
    How could something start so
         suddenly,
              be so sweet,
         and end so soon?
    And why should it not
         break her heart
              and hurt her pride?
    What brought about his
         change of heart?
    What caused him to forget
         sweet words spoken,
              promises made,
         dreams shared?
    Did they move too fast?
    Did she frighten him?
Yet, it was he who set the
              pace,
    Telling her they were meant
         to be.
Yet, it was he who so coldly
         turned away.
And so, she is now left
         wondering
    About that which she cannot
         understand.

Oh, I know what made my first husband of five years have a change of heart....drugs! and, before long he died of an overdose. But people stop loving because they don't have much character. They are to interested in what they themselves want. A lot of selfish people out there. Good poem.

Thank you, I'm sorry you had to live it, but I'm glad you liked it.

Lovely portrayal of a love betrayal. We never know abut others reasons, or feelings. It can leave us so torn and forlorn. Write on...

A great write and a terrible feeling of loss when someone says one thing and means another. Great write.

I guess that feeling of betrayal is the worst, no?

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
