  • There is Salvation and Damnnation within the choice of words we define ourselves with.

Poem Commentary

This poem is to anyone ever effected by any form of abuse but especially to those of us who suffered through abuse as a child! ......Ladies and gentlemen we were not at fault, we were not to blame. We may have been broken at some point and time, some us us may still be broken even now. However, we are now, and always have been, and will continue to be beautiful people worthy of love and healing!

Words to the wounded

                         Words to the wounded!!
Little girl with blood on your face
Who never ever learned her place
Who’s words were always foolish and wrong
Who never could learn to just get along
Who’s shortcomings and imperfections were never your own
Who’s face was hidden so no bruises were shown
Who’s soul was scarred far worse than your skin
Who has lived her life from deep within
Oh sweet child I am sorry you cried
I am sorry your innocence was wounded and died
I am sorry you hurt and your screams went unheard
That your claims were laughed off as simple absurd
I wanted to help you but I just couldn’t you see
Because I am you and I couldn’t save me
I touch our face now and I look into our eyes
My ears still ring with our anguished cries
When I shut out the world the memories replay
Broke down and abused in so many different ways
We found safety in shadows, and fear in the light
Yet I am still terrified to be alone in the night
Sweet little child its time to let you go
I must put you to rest if I am to heal and grow
You are safe now and will hurt no more
The woman you become is stronger than before
Before you go know it wasn’t  our fault
We could Never Ever have stopped that assault
Our crimes were imaginary but our punishments great
Innocence is a delicacy for souls filled with hate
You grow up to have children who have never felt angers touch
Thanks to our abuser he at least taught us that much
You grow into a beautiful woman with a beautiful mind
You’re a unique individual often called “one of a kind”
Your failures are numerous but your success is always sweet
You effect the hearts of so many that you meet
I love  you as much now as I hated you then
So its ok now to go and let the healing begin
I wish you now the peace that you never knew
And the love and affection that was once denied you
Have no fear as you fade back into the past
Its where you belong so we can have peace at last
Beautiful woman with fear in your face
Its time to forgive and find your grace
Learn to love freely, to laugh, and to live
Learn to receive as much love as you tend to give
Learn to smile and even to cry
Learn to accept beauty without questioning why
Learn it is ok to not accept the blame
Learn to live a life not burdened by shame
Beautiful woman you will be ok
The rest of your life Starts Today!!

OMG! this says it all! Nothing more needs to be said. I have some friends who would love to read this, I'll send them your way. This is beautifully written.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
