Poem Commentary

Wrote this a few years ago while writing a short story and found myself having trouble putting my thoughts into 'just the right words' I was looking for. The irony of it was my writer's block gave birth to this poem.

Writers Block

Stagnant; stale; staccato stabs,
A mental mush slush.
Unseen phantom, my words it grabs.
The dulling rushed hush.
A wall, absurd.
I think, "That's not the word."

Blocking; restraining; dampening - Frustration!
A ravage event.
Locking; refraining; hampering - Anticreation!
The literature savage prevent.

Nice write bro. As previously stated, I have been there before myself Haha. In reading this, the way you worded it and the tone set, it's like you captured a moment in time that was running through your mind as you tried to write. Just a fleeting moment picked from the air and jotted down just as quick as it passed. Great write. Reminds me of John Lennon's 'I'm So Tired'. ~Spence, P.S. i'm Spence on here haha, Later

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
