YO-YO

YO-YO

I sit to dine,
cheers to my health
Finalized another mundane day,
Amplifying my wealth
But this is my time!
And I won't go without!
So I fill my plate to the brim,
And let my belt out

Savory porkchops, I've slow baked with spice
Potatoes in cream, long grain rice
Cornbread in butter,
so delicious I want to SHOUT!
But instead I just let another notch out

Wont waste time talking,
There's food engraved with my name.
My belly is swollen,
But I've mastered this game.
Wait a few moments, have coffee to pass time,
Now able to fit more in, ready to Re-dine!!!!!

The night passes in silence,
Sweet cakes fill my dreams.
Waking to sun resting on my sheets,
All is perfect, so it seems.
Head to the shower, prepared to scrub well
Where I run into my nemisis,
the hateful scale...

So we meet again,
I say to the metal at my feet
Stepping on gingerly
Ready to admit defeat
The dial waste no time, as, nor did I the evening before
Rising quickly past 99, climbling ever more

Sulkily, I shower, no longer enticed by,
magical spices and sweets.
Stepping out slowly,
Mentally preparing the days feat.
Hours of mundane, pass begrudgingly by
And then AGAIN I meet my doorjam
Excited once more to eat!

I sit to dine... cheers to my life!
Determined to leave victorious,
Grasping the handle of my knife.
Slowly I slice through the apple with care
Pretending instead, there's a steak resting there.

One crunchy chew after the next,
Topping it off with a bit of filling dough.
And embrace what is to be my life
Riding this diet yo-yo

I don't mind at all! thankyou for your compliments, I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it :)

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
