    You almost had me
    your caress so genuine
    your words so assuring

    You almost had me
    my heart overflowing
    my emotions so vivid

    You almost had me
    but the jest is on you
    I am not so easily attained

    You almost had me
    but now my vision is restored
    you are just not that skilled

    Wry humor at the end - I like it! This poem has a clean, tight style. I like the way you don't layer on heavy poetic language like some poets do. It's much better without the $20 words. The poem lets you feel the relief, like when you dodge a fast ball that would have broken your nose if you'd been just a bit less alert. And bravo to you for having the good sense to duck!
