You Can’t Keep Me Down
My cup runneth over
I cannot quit,
But sometimes you don’t
Deserve what you get.
I won’t give you the satisfaction
Of watching me die,
I will turn this negative energy
Into a natural high.
You can kick me
And watch me lay at your feet,
Remember this, I won’t be
That easy to defeat
You can walk all over me
And stomp me in the dirt,
Try as you may
I refuse to be hurt
Because you use my past
To make me feel like trash,
Mark my word
My hopes and dreams you will never crash.
It will take more than this world has
To keep me down,
I promise you my feet
Are planted firmly on the ground.
Sure life has dealt me
A lot of heartache and pain,
That leaves me with nothing left to lose
And everything in this world
TO GAIN.
