    Poem Commentary

It is a sad memory, but a good lesson. It hurts me he loves another, as I am sure it hurt her. I never really cared about adultery before I seen how many lives were broken. My friends, my family and strangers all hurt, angry, bitter, jealous and so many more emotions felt. Cheating is wrong, and marriage is a life time commitment. No one said marriage was just for the better. My ex-husband told me no that marriage for the worst didn't mean the extreme worse. I had to laugh. Yes it is for the extreme worse, and in most cases it is lack of communication that leads to divorce. Not the reasons people come up with just for excuses. Before you make the commitment think can you handle the extreme worse:)

    You Reap What You Sow

I wanted to ask you why you did this to me,
How could you have hurt me so badly,
Then I thought of another life,
The broken vow of another and their strife,
I wanted her husband to be mine,
How could I have been so blind,
I didn't care about the tears she had cried,
I wanted her husband by my side,
I told her to let him go, he belongs to me,
The pain and heart break I didn't care to see,
Now I stand on the other side,
I feel so ashamed I just want to hide,
The pain and shame make me ill,
He wasn't mine and I did steal,
    I listen to your voice,
Part of me blames myself for your choice,
You tell me you no longer love me,
Your new girlfriend wants me to set you free,
You say you belong to her now and to please let you go,
Shocked I muttered, "You reap what you sow,"
Shame, guilt, hurt, loneliness and despair hit me by force,
I quietly whisper, "I will give you the divorce,"
You tell her you love her and tell me goodbye,
So now I know how it feels to walk on the other side and cry.

I'm sorry you've been through this but I'm glad you genuinely regret and see your role in the hurt/pain caused by your actions. I have been that other woman recieving the pain and it's good to know that some people do still have hearts.

This is real stuff!! I appreciate your poem because it is honest and definitely something to think about. Many of us have been in those shoes before and unfortunately you're right. We will reap what we sow. Great poem!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
